One Hot Mama's located down near Sea Pines Entrance has Great Pub style food at reasonable prices. Tip - if you go during peak dinner time just sit at one of the bars and get served immediately by their friendly responsive staff. The go to place when you're really hungry & just want a quick good meal. Can't go wrong here!

First let me say if you don't mind country music blasting loud enough to interfere with your conversation, you want to watch and not listen to several sports games at once and you are ok with mediocre food then this place might be for you. I am not sure how this place has so many stars. We arrived for dinner on a Wednesday night in September... 25 minute wait. So we saddled up to the bar as we were told we would get service there. Getting service was not quite as easy as we were told and once we ordered there would be long stretches between when we would see someone. Another couple arrived at the empty bar and it took about five minutes to get a menu. So I have established the atmosphere and service was below par. Now on to the food. I ordered a burger and sweet potato fries. The beef tasted odd and the fries with dried up. I ended up eating less than half of my burger and only a handful of my fries. It was obvious when the waitress came to clear my plate that I did not enjoy the meal, perhaps that is why she didn't ask? Well, when we got the check the price of the beer was incorrect. We ordered one of the draft specials and we were charged a random rate. Somewhere between the regular price and the special price. So if you do end up here do yourself a favor and check that you were charged the correct amount. With so many choices in Hilton Head why go to this place and wait for food that is mediocre at best?

I would say that One Hot Mama's does right by their core business...BBQ. We had a late lunch/early dinner and basically had the whole place to ourselves. The kids menu, while not large at all, featured a very good cheese pizza that was a notch above your standard kids menu fare. The Mac and Cheese also was more memorable than the normal Kraft style and both kids dishes came with a nice side of fresh apples with a very tasty caramel dipping sauce. My combo plate of ribs and shrimp was good but not great. The shrimp was absolutely forgettable. On HHI, I expect premium shrimp done well and what I got was an over crusted, over fried version of fried shrimp. It was a very generous amount of shrimp but again, I'd take quality over quantity. The 1/3 ribs were definitely the star of the show. Very meaty and cooked to perfection. They feature several sauces and I question why the ribs come slathered in one sauce when there are others that I would have love to try. However, when it's already on the plate, you're committed to what they give you. My wife's pulled pork plate was an enormous serving and the meat was impeccably done. There was no sauce on hers so she picked out what flavor she wanted and loved the result. A great plate of BBQ for sure. Service was a little sluggish at first since we were in during shift change but once the evening shift got their bearings, we were treated very well and all of our needs were met quickly and with a friendly smile. Is this the best BBQ I've ever had? Probably not but One Hot Mama's is definitely not just mailing it in and is definitely trying harder than the average BBQ joint. Go for the ribs and pork, stay for the service, and repeat would be my recommendation.

Decent barbecue but not enough sauces available. Good, pleasant servers. Bar atmosphere...very casual. Make sure that you order the ribs. Fall off the bone good.

The main BBQ sauce was delicious, as were the ribs and brisket.

Amazing BBQ on the island of seafood restaurants. Conveniently located right outside of the Sea Pines gates. We started with frozen drinks in a souvenir mason jar... I'm a sucker for a take-home glass. I got the lunch combo with pulled pork, Mac&cheese, fried okra and broccoli. Everything was delicious and the pulled pork was amazeballs. I should have bought a bottle of the BBQ sauce because that was so good that we licked it off of our plates. Definitely a must try when you're looking for some good southern BBQ.

Just had the Teriyaki Wings. Holy smokes...They were the size of Pterodactyl wings! Grilled and charred with a sweet glaze. OMG heaven! Joy greeted me when I walked in and she is just a delight!!!

Awesome BBQ and atmosphere. Loved this place. After a hot day with the kids, nice relaxing music to entertain the kids and give us a chance to enjoy dinner.

Best ribs ever! ... In my life! Order the ribs. Order more things if you want, but you must order the ribs. If you don't, you're an idiot. Also the only cornbread I've had in my life that was worth eating. Sub out fries for Mac cheese.

We have always liked this place. The wings are good and the variety a welcome change. Our visit this time no different with our wing fans. This time the wings came with a 'basket' for the veggies which came on the side. The three stalks of celery looked a bit lonely, craving attention from their neighboring sauced drenched wings. One of our table mates ordered salmon. The waiter hesitated when we ordered, and we should have taken that as a sign. A small pink square with the ordered sides. Nothing to write home about. Youngest ordered a side of sweet potato fries, which she said were tasty, but ice cold. One hot mama's, in its early years, was known for hot, fresh and favorable food. As the Serg group has grown, it appears that they are forgetting the little touches that made the individual restaurants special.

Excellent southern American/BBQ. Great service and the food was great. Food came super quick and lived up to the reviews. Had the baby back ribs which were excellent. Wife bad the salmon which she loved as well. Highly recommended.

Order our drinks from the bar, the waitresses, never came to our table even though we went to the bar and ask them to come to the table to take our food order. If totally behind the bar didn't makes a great rum runner, we would have went somewhere else. The Hitman was fun too.

Continuing my BBQ tour, I looked up some of the higher rated restaurants on Hilton Head and came across this place. Apparently the owner/chef (not sure which, maybe both) had starred on Next Food Network Star, and everyone in the reviews was raving about the place and so was my friend who lives on the island. It's pretty much located smack dab in the middle of the touristy area Hilton Head, but we didn't have any trouble parking. I can imagine come late Spring and Summer that you might We were seated right away, and there wasn't a whole lot of people in there, because we waited until about 3 to get a meal, but it gradually filled up. The bartender waited on us, and he was very friendly and helpful and incredibly funny. He was doing a great job of taking care of an increasing number of tables as well. I ended up ordering ribs again but also put in an order of wings, since they were known for them and have won a few awards for some of their sauces. The ribs were so tasty and came with a red sauce lightly splashed on top, and the wings were just awesome. I went with the Hot Asian, which is what they have won some awards for, and the Hot BBQ. The girlfriend and I both liked the hot BBQ the best. I love when wings are smoked then grilled will take them that way over fried any day. They came right off the bone and had so much more flavor. My friend really liked her wings as well, and she also loves the Korean BBQ Short Rib taco. I think my only gripe was that my soda tasted funky. I'm not sure if it was a one-off, but I think they were running out of syrup. It was in between meals so that could be. This is another great place I'd recommend to anyone visiting Hilton Head looking for some great American food cooked really well. It's located in a block of all kinds of bars and restaurants, so once you're done eating, you can either chill there or move onto the next spot. If I'm back again, I'll definitely make a night out of it!

Its been very good every time we have been there but the latest was just perfect. Definitely call ahead during high season because its always packed. Wings were awesome. They came out steaming hot, crispy and delicious. Potato skins topped with pulled pork were perfect. The big daddy sandwich of pulled pork, beef brisket, cold slaw and fried onions is outstanding. One of the best sandwiches I've had. The roll was perfect and it was put together just right. Kids meal of grilled chicken was not only perfectly cooked, but also sliced into bite sized pieces for a child to eat. So simple to do but very few places serve a kids meal like that. All around great food and awesome service too.

Fun experience, food ok. We strolled over after a few beer at The Lodge and say immediately at the bar (tables were on an hour wait). Prompt service was rendered and the gal was friendly and upbeat. Great beer on draft (Natty Greene Southern Style Pale Ale). My husband and I split the baby back ribs and brisket dinner which comes with coleslaw and fries. The ribs were good the brisket was ok. The coleslaw needs work. Too watery with not enough salt and too much sugar! It was a fun experience and overall glad we went. The live music was fun too!

great food and ok service. a bit loud, but the ribs were some of he best I've had in my 59 years. I'd go back

  • Toni S.

I would have given it a higher rating if we did not wait a 1 1/2 hours to sit down. The rib tipps were ok, but the smoked chicken wings, dirty rice and jalapeño corn bread were great! The staff is great!

Very good food. I got the Big Daddy Burger. Massive. Got my salad second though?? Also, they were out of tacos so someone I was with couldn't get fish tacos. Cool environment in nice weather. It was a good meal. Caesar Salad- When I asked for my Caesar Salad the water acted like they didn't have it and had to ask another waiter if they had it, which he said yes. After I got my Salad, I was already mostly full, so I'm sure it's better when hungry. There was not much dressing and very little dark romaine lettuce, which I like better than the lighter iceberg lettuce. Big Daddy- First off, this thing is a monster. To be able to eat the whole thing is impressive (which yes, I did, as a 6'3" high school athlete). It was very good. A lot of good flavors, many too blended in to tell what it really was. The brisket meat was very good, although I do not recommend if you're not a meat fan. Loaded Baked Potato- This is my all time favorite texture of a baked potato. The cheese wasn't really melted but the sour cream combined with the soft potato was SO GOOD. All in all good. Service- mediocre, but food was great.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet--- This place is 5 out of 5. I had the Texas Beef Brisket- and it was amazing! I recommend this to everyone! You will not be disappointed! Great food, great people, great music!

Went there for dinner last night. I had the full rack of ribs. The meat fell right off the bone and was tender from the one end to the other. Great char/smoke flavor plus the "perfect 10" sauce they use. The waiter brought another bottle of sauce to use which, I can't recall what it was, but it was just as good. The fries that came with it were perfect also, done enough to be crispy outside and soft inside. The cornbread was just as good as the meal, honey habanero I think. I finished the whole meal and didn't feel full as in sick, but full as in I had a good meal type of full. My wife had the rib tips. To sum it up, just as good as the full rack. However her appetite wasn't as big as mine. We took it home, reheated perfectly and had rib tips for a midnight meal. The service was great, when our waitress had to help out in the bar another waiter/waitress would help out. So no feeing like you're left behind or forgotten. Friendly staff too, one waiter suggested their desserts which all sounded good, but would have put us in a food coma if we did have any. So if you want some great BBQ, go here, get a full rack of ribs, you will not be disappointed in your choice. My only regret was not trying the brisket. That will wait for the next time I visit.

Where do I start. Great customer service... We were seated right away and our waitress was professional and attentive. Drink selections were great. I had the blueberry lemonade - delicious and not too sweet, and my fiance had the maple bourbon drink which he loved. The wings were phenomenal. He tried both award winning flavors and I had the garlic parmesan. So impressed. So much better than the other main wing place. Highly recommended and we can't wait to go back. Oh and amazing atmosphere and ambiance!

Great place - ribs were juicy and tender. Sauce was also great. Sides were fresh and tasty. Plenty of food, enough to feed 5. Will definitely visit again my next trip.

Wonderful food in a really down home place. The service was prompt and friendly. Food was awesome. Had the BBQ combo with Brisket & Ribs, totally fabulous. Wife had the smoked fried chicken which was even better. All in all, a great place to grab a meal.

I visited One Hot Mama's last week with my wife and parents. We were all very hungry, and the menu didn't help any -- everything looked so good! Entrees were priced in the high $20 range, but there was a "Family style" option for $44 which included 2 meat choices, 3 sides, and corn bread. It said that it is portioned for 3-4 people, so we were a little skeptical about it, given how hungry we were. Our server ensured us that it was enough food, and he was right! It was an absolutely delightful meal, with perfect portions, and nothing left over to speak of. It probably saved us at least $45 on the total bill, which was definitely welcomed. Each item was delightful, and the different sauce options were very interesting. We got the Rip Tips (which still had bones), pulled pork BBQ, green beans with almonds (one of my favorites!), collard greens, and sweet potato fries (which were sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar and were almost dessert-like). As I said, we crushed the entire thing. It was perfect. And none of us were left so stuffed that we were uncomfortable, it was literally a perfect portion. Even left room for some ice cream later on. I'd have to recommend this place based on the taste of the food we ordered, and if you have a small group of 3-4, go for the Family Style option -- if you can settle on just two meats and three sides.

Just had lunch with one of the best servers we have had in a long time. Britney was nice and knowledgeable. I am gluten free and had plenty of options. The price was great and the food was AMAZING! Melt in your mouth brisket! Triple B chips were the best! All agreed we could have had that for our whole meal. Wish we had room for dessert! Drinks were yummy and the kids loved their take home glowing cups! We recommend the kettle chips, smoked fried chicken, fried okra, and pulled pork. We will come back next year!

  • Jennifer J.

Here's the spicy news on One Hot Momma; do yourself a favor and eat there! I had the Hot Asian Tacos and they did not disappoint! The hubs had wings and a burger. While the burger was just a burger, the wings were phenomenal. The only downfall was the service. Our server wasn't friendly and we actually felt like we were interrupting her day. She barely came to our table and when she did, she spilled water on both of us while she was refilling our cups and she all but told us to leave when giving us the check. It's a good thing the food was pretty tasty. I was able to look past her nastiness.

  • Jane D.

Loved the tacos, wings and BBQ. Service was awful, had to flag down waiter from another waiter, no attention to drink needs, never came to check on food after it was delivered and order was messed up to where one of my tacos was on another plate and one of his on my plate. Waiter should have checked but didn't.

Forehead-sweating, food-coma'd and straight worn from multiple mouthgasms. If anything sucks here I couldn't find it. A range of craft beers that satisfies my beer-snob requirements and food that redefines my sense of right and wrong. As I crawl over the line of gluttony not wanting to let a morsel go to waste I use each breath to praise the designer(s) of flavor responsible for caring and thinking through each and every detail of the menu. This palate is not easily sated, yet not one choice disappoints. My only grudge is that now the bar has been raised and it will be more difficult to top this find. Non-pretentious and hard working front and back of house. Congrats to the cooks, giv'm all a raise for fine work! Thank you for caring!

  • Rosie J.

Don't be fooled...when you see OHM on the door, just know that it stands for "one hot mess." All of the food is decently priced, but the food is VERY mediocre and tastes like its been artificially mass produced and then the restaurant just zaps it. Two "slices" of their jalapeño sausage cornbread will cost you $.50, mind you these "slices" are the size of a 3 yr olds hands. My family and I would have been better off finding a Ruby Tuesday's/Applebee's/Chilis. On the upside, the service is pretty good!

Vacationing from Ohio... OF COURSE, right? :) husband and I both had multiple friends tell us to check this place out. Monday night, super busy, was told 45min-1hr wait, waited only 30 mins. Our party ordered the chili fries app, two different burgers, and wings. Food was great! Our waiter was fine, a little hard to hear and understand. I would probably recommend a friend check this place out for the atmosphere outside and for some good food.

Tasty BBQ, but a stingy serving. I had the baby back ribs and chicken combo. The 4 bones serving with a leg/thigh chicken was very small, especially the ribs from the small tail of the rack, and left me wanting more. Well prepared, but not sure if they smoke on premise as there was no telltale smoke in the air. Cole slaw needed some more vinegar and sugar, but was made fresh and had great promise. They Could use some other sauces at the table, especially one with a little kick. I would definitely return and just order differently.

Went on a Thursday afternoon for dinner, wait was 30 min, so sat at the bar. Service was excellent, every 10 min someone asked if we need anything. They had a one man cover band outside, who was great, all the doors were opened so you could hear inside. It wasn't too loud at all. Had the spinach dip, rib tips, voodoo wings and pulled pork sliders. Everything was great. -spinach dip - came with chips and pita bread both fresh. Dip had cheese melted in top, A+ -rib tips - a little burned, but great sauce and they came right off the bones, A -pulled pork sliders - girlfriend ate them all, said they were delicious, A+ -wings - were well done, the way I liked them. Good quality, voodoo sauce takes a bit like brown sugar and honey, but spicy, came with blue cheese, celery and carrots, A Overall great atmosphere.

Large portions. Decent prices. Ordered chocolate ribs, family style meal with baby back ribs and smoked fried chicken, green beans, fries, and sweet potato fries. Ribs and fried chicken good. Think Bullies BBQ which is a hole in the way has better BBQ sauce. I like sweet BBQ sauce and they didn't have any. Mustard base BBQ sauce was o.k. Chocolate ribs were different. My 7 year old daughter liked them. Love the live music and eating outside. Good service and kid friendly place.

Ate here off season on vacation. I loved the fried chicken and corn bread. Boyfriend loved the brisket. Huge drink selection. Our waiter Shane was very friendly. Nice location, easy to find from the beach. The corner booth in the back is nice from the crowd. Will try brunch tomorrow....edit: Brunch was also great.

My family came around 7pm on a Thursday for dinner. We were told the wait would be 1hr 15 min, and we contemplated going elsewhere but were seated outside only 15 minutes later (we asked for first available). We ordered wings (Maui and teriyaki) for an app - I thought some of them were grilled too much (some were totally black) & lost some of the flavor of the sauce as a result, but they generally had a good taste. We then got the family style meal ($44 supposed to serve 3-4, but it was plenty for our party of 5 after having a few wings). We had pulled pork and chicken - which were both cooked perfectly and the house barbecue sauce was delicious. Sides were Mac and cheese (delicious!!!), cole slaw (paired nicely with the pork) and dirty rice which came with a very tasty gravy! It also came with jalapeño cornbread which was my favorite part of the meal!!! Only negatives: though the temperature wasn't too bad outside, there were nats that flew in our faces nearly the entire meal. Live music outside was nice - though a tiny bit loud at times. Sometimes hard to hear each other. Also, because the place is so busy, it took a few minutes to get some of the things we needed (like plates for our family meal)-- however our server was super friendly!

Amazing ribs. We had our meal delivered to our house. Everything we ordered was excellent. The price was completely worth the meal. I highly recommend the restaurant.

We stopped for lunch while waiting to check-in to our condo. We were pleased that there was no wait. I had the chicken wrap, which was very good - it would make a good salad. Actually, I ate it with a fork since it fell apart when I was eating it. My husband had the Asian hot wings, which were nothing spectacular. I'm glad we got to try One Hot Mama's, but we probably won't return.

Our family of 7 had lunch at One Hot Mama's today. Excellent food at excellent prices. The Big Daddy was awesome, and the wings were large and flavorful. We tried several wing flavors and the Hot Asian and the Strawberry Jalapeño were excellent.

  • Gigi G.

One word.... Wow! The food was incredible and huge. I had the Hot mamas burger and my boyfriend had the award winning ribs. The sauce was phenomenal. Our service was on point, Anthony did an awesome job and last, we took the sampler dessert platter home and I'm sitting here eating the Key Lime pie for breakfast!!! Will definitely come back here when we visit Hilton Head!

  • Sabrina Z.

We eat here every year. We've been trying different things to get a better take on the restaurant. It has a great environment. I finally was able to order the shrimp tacos- usually they run out of the tortillas. I honestly was unimpressed with my tacos. The fresh avacado was great and the cheese dip for my chips was nice. However, the shrimp had a horrible taste and the Pico wasn't spectacular. They have some good stuff.. I really like their fried chicken. The haystack burger is good. Their dirty rice is so good too. If you're going for their smoked items be prepared for an intense smoke flavor.

Trust me when I say, It's worth the hour plus wait.. Lord knows we were famished when we arrived so we silently prayed that the food was worth the wait and boy, we were not disappointed! We ordered the family platter and chose the brisket and BBQ chicken for meats. For sides the kids opted for mac&cheese, hubby and I had baked beans and cole slaw. The chicken was tender, juicy and well seasoned, the brisket, soft and tasty. The beans, I could've eaten all by myself. The cornbread tasted more like a pound cake. I loved it! We all left filled and happy we would definitely be coming back.

Best wings I think I've ever had. Even my wife, who isn't a wing or bbq fan, was impressed. Mac & cheese was really good as well, as was the brisket-queso appetizer. Building was obviously undergoing some work. Had the back door open & we wandered in through it, thinking it was the main entrance.

I have eaten at One Hot Mama's forever, since it opened and it is one of my favorite places. The atmosphere says this is gonna be fun. And it is. It is fun any time of year whether you want to eat with the family or hang with friends at the bar, watch sports, sit around the fire place outside when it is cold, it's always great. The owner, Orchid is one of the nicest people you will meet and loves what she does. Oh and yeah, about the food... LOVE.

Now this is a dive. It looks like an old bar hangout. However the ribs here are the best I have had in the US. I would not eat in. I would just order take out and eat it in the mini van, hotel, home, apartment, condo. You will enjoy it a lot more. Check your order before you leave as the service is not on top of things. Don't fall down, the floors are greasy and dirty.

  • Debbi D.

Good food. Great rib tips, but I tried a sample of the chocolate sauce, it was a little rich for my tastes. My husband enjoyed his wings. Wanted to sit outside, but unfortunately they were doing some construction. Inside was too cold, so we ate quickly.

  • Jack C.

Food was awesome. I had the pulled pork sandwich and Mac and cheese and I loved it. The pulled pork was so great and you could sauce it yourself. The Mac and cheese was so creamy and perfect. My sister had the buffet and it was also very good. I say come here over any other barbecue place for the feel and the food. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the wait was so long. It was very crowded but we waited a long time to order. After we ordered though it came out very quickly.

  • Amie B.

Saw the reviews and had high expectations for fantastic ribs. Unfortunately all 4 at my table ordered ribs and all had a charred/burnt taste . The fries were just okay bag fries (hand cut would be great for a place like this). The wings, cole slaw and Mac n cheese were good. Chicken BBQ nachos were a good appetizer. All in all it was just an okay experience.

  • David T.

Hangin with the family on my birthday. Great food- we had ribs, brisket queso, and Korean BBQ tacos. The kids mac n cheese and pulled chicken sliders were good too. Live music and good drink specials. Couldn't ask for much more. Will come back.

  • Michael M.

Sorry. I do consider Orchid and Chris and plenty of the staff friends, we go there often. However, there's something a little ridiculous about adding a dollar to a $12 sandwich just for asking for any other cheese rather than "cheese sauce." It would not have been so bad if the girl answering the phone didn't repeat (as to taunt) the dollar up charge when reviewing the order. Adding extra ingredients? Sure add money. Replacing sketchy cheese sauce with a slice of cheese that won't turn my stomach? Again, sorry, kind of ruins it for me.

Loved this place. We had the wings and another person had the ribs all were phenomenal. Absolute must try. All are grilled then smoked which gives it s great flavor and char to it. My stomach is growling just thinking about it. Beware though the wings were spicier than I anticipated still amazing but I would have opted for a more mild version of the sauce. Will be going back again!

We ate here in December, and it was busy but there was no wait. We got 12 wings as an appetizer--ranch and Parmesan garlic. Both were tasty and really good. This is what we ordered: baby back ribs and one, haystack burger (huge), smoke fried chicken (huge) BBQ combo and beef Brisket dinner-everything was very good. The Arnold Palmer was amazing, a perfect combination of iced tea and lemonade. The dirty rice, collard greens, Mac and cheese and cornbread were all very good sides. Their fries are just ok, I would rather switch it out with the other sides. Our server was attentive and nice. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

Very tasty food. Had to have fried chicken although our son opted for the ribs with 3 different sauces. The sides were ok, not really what you come for in my opinion. We left feeling full and having enjoyed our meal. Not overly impressed by the staff. We arrived via the back door but the member of staff near there just ignored us rather than pointing us in the right direction! There was a wait which you'd expect at dinner time in a popular place. Our waitress then introduced herself as being new and mumbled something about someone else helping us, she took our drinks order which was brought by the 'someone else' and then served a table that arrived after us which meant we had to wait quite a while to order and the food takes a while too....nearly an hour from arriving to eating.

Great BBQ place. Large portions. Very good value. We have gone there with big groups and everyone enjoyed their meals. Plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. This place is now on our top-ten list.

We come to Hilton Head often(almost annually), we have out typical place we eat(salty dog cafe, crazy crab, etc.)My uncle had suggested this place to us so we went for it. Out waiter was so so(she took a shot while she was serving us!!) she was somewhat rude, and sort of snappy. We arrived at 4:30 with no wait...by the time we left, it was packed. The food is AMAZING. The BBQ is the best. Everyone really enjoyed their food but service in bringing my rating from a 5 to a 3

Went here tonight with the family... It was a bit of an organized mess... Two entrances but if you come in the "back" entrance (which if you're not from around here seems just like a normal entrance) you need to walk through to the other side to be seated, then, we talked to the hostess who offered to clean off a booth for us... About 5 minutes later, another hostess almost gave the table to another family until my daughter mentioned to her that we were waiting for the table... Finally got the table, then after ordering the appetizer (1 order of 12 wings) waited about 20 minutes for the wings which were very tasty :) then waited another about 20 minutes for the food which was a mixed combination of good and bad... Ribs... Good... Burger well done tasted like charcoal, salmon OK but not great, green beans with almonds OK but a little undercooked and no almonds?? Chicken meal was good too. Service was pretty poor with dirty plates sitting on table. Long time making it clutter up pretty fast. Water tastes HORRIBLE!!!!! I wouldn't recommend drinking it! Wouldn't pay to go there again... If we lived in the area might order out the ribs but that's about it.

Great food... Perfect for families with kids. Several options on the kids menu. Service was fast and friendly.

Solid bbq with other interesting dishes. We usually grab a bunch for takeout to bring back to the villa since the wait is usually long during the summer. Everything we've tried has been good

Food was quite good, and prices are fair. Long wait on a Thursday early evening, but staff was friendly and attentive. To future customers: please note that kids no longer eat free on Thursdays at this establishment. The restaurant website, although easy to navigate, has not been updated and has incorrect information. We were disappointed as we had specifically tried out this restaurant due to the advertisement on the front page of the website.

Vacationing with the family at Hilton Head, we decided to go out for a BBQ lunch. This proved to be an excellent idea as we ended up at OHM's. All in all a great experience...good service, good food.

  • Rusty R.

Back in HH this year and hit OHM again. Aside from beers and cocktails being served in thin plastic cups at the outside bar (don't stay cold long) and the long wait for our food --- things were great. I had the combo BBQ pork and beef brisket plate. Brisket was AWESOME and the BBQ sauces were all great. Collard greens were very good, but were a little sweet. Wife and kids enjoyed their food as well.

Crazy good food! Portions were huge. We had ribs and smoke fried chicken. Great choice. Husband had coleslaw and I chose baked beans and both had fries. Way too much food. We were overstuffed when we left. Great atmosphere. Very casual. We will definitely eat here !

  • Rachel R.

Everything was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious! The atmosphere was friendly and cheerful. The service was top notch! Many times you leave a restaurant satisfied and fed. We left One Hot Mama's not only satisfied and fed, we left saying it was the best meal we have eaten in Hilton Head! I highly recommend this place!

The wings are retarded good. sorry for the terms. THey are glazed to the tee and the chicken falls off the bone, Big wings too. Also got rib tips, the meat also slipped off like slippers off a beautiful women. Near a triangle of bars, so grab a drink beforehand at rileys or the lodge if you gotta wait.

Came with 25+ folks from Coastal Minis car club. The club had called ahead so they were prepared for us and some long tables set up. Good service! They have an extensive selection of brews, commercial and local. The menu leans to barbecue, wings, burgers and the like. I had a recommended appetizer of "chocolate barbecue ribs". Sounds strange but proved to be excellent and enough (6 ribs) for a meal! Then I had a pulled pork sandwich that proved ok only because of the lack of a sauce I prefer. The side I chose was sausage n cornbread stuffing, interesting but just ok. My wife had a side salad and barbecue wings. Again, nothing to rave about. The service was very good and I'd go back for those chocolate barbecue ribs alone.

Found this restaurant last year when we were here and made it a point to return. Took some HHI newbies here and everyone loved the food. Group had a mix of the food from ribs, wings, pulled pork, to the brisket. No complaints with any of the menu. This place fills up fast at dinner like all the good family places on the island so if you want to get a table quick and not get lost in the sea of tables eat early.

on a busy sat night 10 of us were looking for someplace new to try-- so thrilled that we found this place ---call ahead seating and our table was ready when we arrived ---all of the food was fabulous but the shrimp crab and artichoke dip appetizer $8 is a MUST have-- so delicious ---most of us had some type of BBQ---ribs, pulled pork, brisket, wings -- everything was fantastic--our server Tara was excellent very attentive and even though the place was packed service was never slow-- food served hot and cooked to perfection--only complaints would be the place is extremely noisy---difficult to hear unless seated right next to your companion--we were seated inside maybe it would not have been as noisy outside-- probably would suggest outside for a large group---this is our 4th summer visiting HHI and so glad we found One Hot Mama's---it has been added to our favorites-- must visit list--and we will probably return for another meal this trip--you cannot go wrong with this choice--great food, excellent service, and very reasonably priced

If you want to watch a man piss while you eat, this place is for you. That's the one thing I took away from this restaurant. We were sat down by our hostess, I excused myself to use the bathroom. Once in there I stood at a urinal and looked through some dark glass at....the dining room. It was a small window in the wall that framed my head and shoulders. I came back to my table and realized I was staring at this little window from my seat. During the course of my meal, I got the treat of seeing about 10 men relieve themselves. OK, so the food was pretty good. I had a fried chicken sandwich that was pumped with flavor. My wife had fried chicken that was even better. My youngest daughter loved her ribs. I'd go back. But only if they covered up that window. Maybe there's a reason behind it. I'm sure it's something done to be outrageause and generate some buzz but whoever was the first idiot that said 'You know what, you've got open kitchens why not open bathrooms?" should be thrown beat about the head along with the owner who said "You know what? You're right!" Stupid idea. It detracted from the food and service.

Wow went in on a very busy Saturday night, felt lucky to get a table in 5 minutes. Our server was as cheerful and happy as she could be. I ordered the BB Back ribs which come with corn bread, cole slaw and French fries. The ribs were just spectacular with the sides and BBQ sauce good but nothing special. My wife ordered their Roasted Salmon with a choice of sides, she had green beans and a baked potato and was extremely happy with her meal since she doesn't like BBQ and was dragged in there kicking and screaming. Turns out she loved the salmon and as most of you know when she is happy you're happy. The dinners came out quickly which was surprising considering the place was packed 2 dinners with a shared designer beer was under $40, a hellava great deal. Mama's was hot!!

Soooo good! Just went there on vacation for lunch and loved it! Lunch special is a great deal! Went back a few days later for happy hour. 50% drinks, woo hoo! Cheap appetizers during Happy Hour at the bar. I had the asian shrimp tacos, whoa! I loved them! My husband had the black bean salsa and it was great! Cant wait to go back!!

this what heaven must be like . had the smoked fried chicken for the first lime loved it . the banna pudding was to die for . went for lunch it was the lowest priced meal of the week and the best . not like my mamas cooking much better.. try it you will love it

So I went to Hilton Head, SC for vacation this past June and had a blast. One main reason was One Hot Mama's! If I could have eaten here everyday I would have. The food and service was great. You can't beat their happy hour specials, pretty much all appetizers are cheap and the drinks are like half off. I think I spent $3 for each drink, talk about easily getting twitsted. It does get pretty packed after 4 PM so don't go there starving because you will have a wait. But if that happens just go to the bar and fill up on drinks and appetizers for the time being. The wings were awesome, the ribs yummy and I loved the mac and cheese. You definitely can't go wrong at One Hot Mama's!

In general, one expects slower than average (or even below average) service on a Sunday night in a BBQ joint. Yet somehow we were still surprised & annoyed at the terrible timing of food delivery. That being said: the restaurant has GREAT barbecue! As noted in other reviews, the corn bread alone is worth the visit. Perfectly cooked ribs (even the chocolate ones. Try them!!), crispy fried chicken, and chicken wing appetizers - while arriving all at the same time - were excellent. Avoid the generic side salads, the limp sweet potato fries, and the salmon, which we were informed is frozen. Located centrally on the island, OHM's is worth a visit, especially because it is connected to 3 or 4 other establishments in a safe environment for strolling and drinking. Is it worth more than one visit? Maybe next year.

  • Ed C.

We are in HH twice a year for a total of four weeks so we've sampled many of the excellent eating establishments in HH.. In our opinion Mama's has the best barbecue on the island.. The wings are to die for! ... I especially like the brisket although you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.. The service is excellent.. Not the easiest address to find, located behind the Wells Fargo Bank just south of the north entrance to Sea Pines on Pope Ave... An area the locals call "the Bar-muda Triangle".. Btw, they offer a great Happy Hour seven days a week.

I was in HH (and perhaps more importantly, the South) for a mere 72 hours, which means I didn't have time to screw around when finding a BBQ fix. Luckily, Yelp led us to One Hot Mamas. When I'm on vacation, I like to try as many new things as possible. Who knows when you're going to be back, so sampling the local wares could be a one shot deal. That's why when I tell you that I came here on consecutive days for lunch and had the exact same meal both times, it is perhaps the highest compliment I can pay a restaurant. Get the combo BBQ plate, replete with brisket and pulled pork. Stop - no arguing. Get it, love it, thank me later.

Wow. OHM is really great. If I felt right giving a burger joint 5 stars, OHM's would be the place to get it. Found this place in a restaurant magazine left in the condo we rented and the menu seemed like it would work for us and our offspring. We went early, like 5:30pm on a Sunday night, since it's high season and we waited about 20 minutes. When we left, the wait was over an hour. We had a great server named Shane. Our daughter was starved so we decided to order chicken nachos-- feed the restless natives, and fast! We asked Shane to have the kitchen leave a little of the plate naked in case the off-spring didn't like them. He did one better and brought her a basket of chips with queso and then the rest of us had the nachos. These things came with smoked, pulled chicken... and BBQ sauce instead of salsa. If your gag reflex is acting up, simmuh down-- these things ROCKED! Did the people who invented "chocolate and peanut butter" also think of these? They were great. By the way, this place serves an appetizer called "chocolate ribs" which we didn't try. Our dinners were great. Brisket was on the money, pulled pork was like buttuh! They could have trimmed the fat a little better but no points off cuz the sauces were solid and, well, we were still on a Nacho High! The sides were seriously kick-ass! I got "haystack onion straws" and the ball-and-chain got mac n'cheese. Yum. I feel a little guilty doing this since we're only here for a week...but we might need to make a return visit before we leave. It was *that* good!

A friend and I came here on a Saturday night while staying on the island. The wait for a table was about 20 minutes so we decided to just sit at the bar. The service at the bar was very good. They had a variety of frozen drink specials and signature drinks that came in mason jars. Very southern. They also had a fairly large selection of wines and beers. There were at least fifteen different beers on tap and it seemed like there may have been something for everyone. The menu was fairly large and there was a lot to choose from. They had the typical bar food, but also a variety of salads, sandwiches, and some seafood. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad. It was absolutely delicious, and may be one of the best salads I've ever had. It came in a tortilla bowl, which I wasn't expected, and had all kinds of veggies on it as well. My friend ordered a chef salad and really enjoyed hers as well. I would definitely recommend stopping in here if you're every in the triangle on the island!

First things first never, ever, ever under any circumstance get take out from here. It took us over an hour! We watched people who came in after us sit down and get there food before our take out order ever came out! That aside the food is excellent. If it had come on time this would be a five star review. The Ribs literally fall of the bone. Everything thing is to die for from Fried Okra to Cole Slaw. Definitely check it out but make sure you get a table! Oh mac and cheese is more stouffers than southern

After 6 trips to Hilton Head we had somehow missed One Hot Mama's. WOW, what a mistake that was!! The food was amazing, creative, southern comfort food, with a focus on smoked meats and BBQ. The Chocolate Rib appetizer fell apart on the plate, was so flavorful, and disappeared in a matter of minutes! We also tried the kettle chip appetizer, also great, and an assortment of tacos, all of which were wonderful. We sat at a bar table, and had great service. We asked the server if Orchid Paulmeier (from the 2011 Food Network's Next Star) happened to be there that night. Not only was she there, she was nice enough to come out to our table, visit with us and happily take some photos. Orchid was a delight to meet with, but her food was really the stand out. We all ate ribs and pulled pork along with their amazing honey drizzled jalapeno corn bread. Sauces were great, served warm at the table along with a "North Carolina" Style vinegar based sauce. Finished it off with Key Lime pie (to go!) for dessert. We will definitely be back, and probably would have made a second trip if we weren't leaving the next day!! We will need to move up our vacation plans so we can eat there again soon!

From the northeast, good BBQ is hard to find so on this trip to HHI, we decided to try One Hot Mamas. In short - really good. Ribs - great! Brisket - very good. Pulled Pork - Meh. BBQ wings - meaty, tasty and good. Hungry? Try the BBQ Lovers combo - not on the menu - 1/3 rack of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and two sides. Best idea - they bring out a bottle of BBQ sauce heated up! Lots of staff for a small space - can see how it would fill up early. If you need a break from seafood, try the ribs at the very least - and eat them while they're hot!

  • Susan J.

If you're looking for a fun atmosphere in the heart of Hilton Head, with a real life TV personality, this is the place. Orchid Paulmeier, the 'mama' of OHM, has a deep culinary background and it's demonstrated by her consistently great ribs, barbeque, and her sauces. We've all been waiting for the CHOCOLATE barbeque sauce to appear so we can all take it home - she has won the local BBQ Rib Burnoff, the Wingfest, Chili Fest - and is still creating strong.

One hot mamas is the place to be on taco Tuesday night.. If you need a break from seafood... Go see mama orchid.. We had wings, brisket, ribs, fish tacos, pulled pork.. For six people and the bill was way under a C-note . The food was the best BBQ my group has had bar none... Wash that down with a few $2.50 coronas and call it a night...

Hands down, BEST bargain in HHI - their Sunday brunch. $9.99 for a nice breakfast spread and comes with a complimentary mimosa. Can't beat that with a stick! Some of the brunch buffet items: fresh cut fruit, super crisp bacon, sausage, made-to-order omelets, scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, waffles, pancakes, roasted potatoes with onions, hot cinnamon buns, etc., etc. The rest of the menu for lunch and dinner is huge. Everything I've eaten there is sooo good. One of our go-to places whenever we visit. Last time we ate here three times in the week!

  • Rusty D.

Probably our second favorite meal in Hilton Head. There was a live performer that was excellent. Everyone's food was delicious. My wife had the smoked fried chicken which was unique and tasty I went a little too boring and got a steak but it was delicious nonetheless. If we make it back to Hilton Head this will definitely be one of the eats.

  • Bob D.

The reviews from Yelp led us here on our recent trip to HHI. They were correct, it's as good as they say it is. This was the only restaurant we liked on the island. We actually ate here 2 times in one week. Everything we ordered was excellent. Get there before 5pm or plan on waiting for quite a while. The restaurant sits in a courtyard surrounded by 3 other restaurants (all of which were practically empty). This was the hottest place on the island for dining. Try the 'Big Daddy', you'll be glad you did.

  • Randy A.

The ribs were excellent. Had the Maui wings too and they were good but not award winning. I would've liked a bigger piece of corn bread as a side. What I got was really good. Was told the wait was 1 hour, but only had to wait 45 minutes.

B+. Great bar food kind of place. The guys in the kitchen know how to turn it around during a rush. Unique selection of wing favors. While service was really good my only gripe was our server was a bit of jerk and could work on his people skills. Maybe he was having a bad night

Just happened to run across this place while getting lost in all the roundabouts on the way to Hilton Head. Have to say that it was really tasty! Hubbie and i both had the lunch special - he ordered hot asian ribs which had some of the tastiest sauce i've ever had on ribs. YUM YUM!! the baked beans were absolutely delicious. I ordered bbq quarter chicken - it was definitely a solid offering. I loved the baked beans (again :-)) and, if you can believe it, the steamed broccoli. it didn't come with a sauce or butter or anything but was just tasty. And the cornbread (or cake!) was tasty - not traditional cornbread, more dense and buttery, but very tasty. Great lunch for a great value, and i didn't leave feeling weighed down like i normally would after visiting a bbq joint. If you like big platters of food you might be disappointed, but i was happy to have proper portions after the over-indulgence in savannah.

Everyone in our party of 12 had a great meal. The food was fantastic, from the pulled pork sandwich to the three meat combo. We arrived at 7PM on a Thursday night, and waited about 45 minutes, less than the hour and 15 minutes quoted when we checked in with the hostess. Our foodserver, Anthony, did a fabulous job. His service was prompt, efficient, and he kept the interaction lively.

Ordered the to go menu (the take out meal for four people for 19.99) and also got grilled teriyaki wings. The to go menu was a great deal; pulled chicken, amazing bbq sauce, a huge order of sweet potato fries, and baked beans that had bits of meat running through them - so good! They had a lot of flavor, different than the typical bbq baked beans from a bbq type of restaurant. These had almost a cajun flavor, it was a really nice change. The chicken was moist and tender and the sweet potato fries were tossed with a cinnamon sugar mixture which made them even better! For only $30 four pretty big eaters ate a ton of food and there's still some chicken and fries left over for lunch tomorrow. The wings were delicious, sweet and tangy and well cooked. Can't really comment on the service, but I did call and ask for directions because we couldn't find the restaurant and they kept finding different employees who had experience with where I was in order to help me. That was also really nice of them. Take out from OHM is probably going to become a HHI tradition!

The ribs were very good but my brisket was dry. The sauces were great though. The service was very good both times we have visited. On this visit we were waited on by two servers, one of whom was in training. They were both friendly and helpful. I also like the large booths along the far wall. There is a very good beer selection.

  • Laura T.

Had a pretty decent lunch here. The best part of my meal was the mac-n-cheese and the jalapeno corn bread that had honey on it. Yum!! I got the brisket, which was just okay. The BBQ sauce helped it out. The fried okra was pretty tasty. If I went again, I'd probably give their pulled pork a shot or maybe one of their burgers. Hubby had the country fried steak - it, too, was just okay. But you really can't beat the price for the amount of food. A meat & three sides was just $6.99.

  • E K.

We got the grilled wing appetizer with pineapple sauce, which were just ok. For entree's one of our group got the combo platter which contained brisket, pulled pork and chicken. Another ordered the rib and 1 combo with pulled pork and our third guest got the rib and brisket combo. Their pulled pork was outstanding, with a great smoked flavor, very moist and tender and chopped rather than pulled apart. The traditional mustard bbq sauce really complements this carolina style pork. The brisket was just ok. The ribs were tender and well done (falling off the bone) but the pulled pork really stands out as something we'd go back and try again. The jalapeno cornbread was sensational, soaked in honey and butter. Drinks were cheap and generous (maybe it was happy hour?) served in mason jars, which was kinda hokey. We ordered a john daly and a crazy mama which were strong enough that we didn't need seconds. Our waiter Josh was really knowledgeable about the menu. He made recommendations and corny jokes. We were too full to even attempt dessert.

With kids that are over tired get the food to go. They have a "feeds four" deal that worked great for us. Beware! Hot Mamas is spicy but oh so good. Mac and cheese is amazing. Local flavor and a good price. Eat the food. You like it.

Excellent spare ribs. Very good barbecued chicken. They have earned the awards they've won for food. Less impressive: Catering had some snafus. Their sweet tea is too sweet and their 'homemade lemonade' is basically Crystal Lite. Stick with the meat products though and you'll be very satisfied.

I have to say...I no longer consume things like chicken wings...but when I did, this place was top notch! Great place for a wide variety of crowds! Families, couples, guys, girls, you name it! Head over to One Hot Mama's if you're into wings and BBQ and you won't be disappointed!

We went there on restaurant week. The place was very dated & could use a remodeling. I had a BBQ combo, ribs & brisket. It was very average. Not bad, but certainly nothing special. The sauces were good. The server was very good & friendly. Overall, probably won't be back.

We arrived here at 5:15 on a weeknight, the place was packed and were told we would have to wait 45 minutes. We ended up waiting for 1 hour and 15 mins in the noisy, crowded, fly-filled bar area. The drink I had while waiting was boring, uninspired and flavorless. The food did not meet my expectations. However, our server was very nice. Everything tasted pre-packaged and typical. This place is no better than your typical fast food chain. Towards the end of the meal my friend found a fly in his drink. Gross. I expected much more from the chef, a Food Network Next Cooking Star contestant. AVOID, do not waste your time or money.

We were visiting HHI, SC for a few days and we had heard fantastic reviews from the locals about this place. We are big foodies so we pick our restaurants carefully. We knew that this was Orchid's place from The Next Food Network Star. We loved her on the show and her food always looked phenomenal so we thought it was worth a shot. We were all thoroughly impressed with our meal from top to bottom. I ordered the Big Daddy sandwich with brisket, pulled pork, coleslaw, onion straws on a soft, warm bun. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever put in my mouth. A typical BBQ sandwich has meat, sauce, and a bun. This had so many flavors and textures which all went together perfectly. I paired it with sweet potato fries and they were excellent. They had a sweet coating on the outside and were delicious. My husband ordered the chocolate ribs appetizer and he is a ribs connoisseur. That is one thing that he is very picky about and he loved every single bite. The portion was large for an appetizer and we were pleasantly surprised with the prices. We loved our meal so much that we went back every single day that we were in Hilton Head. We would wake up craving their food. When we ask our kids what their favorite meal was on the entire road trip and they will say, "One Hot Mama's...hands down" We were able to meet Orchid in person and she has such a warm, sweet, and fun personality. It was overall a fantastic dining experience and I just wish that I didn't live 1200 miles away.

This is a BBQ place with wide offering for those who don't like smoked meat. Great kids menu especially the sweet potato fries which are a nice change from the regular fries our kids eat every day on vacation (not proud, just realistic). The pulled pork is very good. Babybacks have good flavor but seemed very fatty to me. Brisket was smoky and not dry. Good choices on the taps.

We've been going to this rib joint for as long as we've vacationed on Hilton Head. Now that we live here, the boys love coming here because it was there moms favorite restaurant! They served ( but not any longer) the best St. Louis style ribs on earth!! I don't know why they took them off the menu, but I cried the day I found that out. She swore they had the best baby back ribs EVER! they're good, but not as good as my St.Louis ribs. The fried onion stack is amazing my friend David would order 2 for our table of 4. The deviled eggs are amazing! We always got. A dozen for our table! The food just always made us happy! And now that it's just me and my boys, were still happy when we eat there, they always tell the waitstaff that we eat here so mommy in heaven can taste the ribs when she kisses them goodnight. For that reason only!! If they served crap, I'd give them FIVE STARS!! it makes us remember her, and how happy it was to eat out as a family. I sit here writing about this place with tears in my eyes. We drove by tonight, just so they we love one hot mamas. Wish we could afford to have dinner there every night! I think my boys would probably be happier!

The service was great as well as the food! My mom-in-law who can burn said the ribs were dynamite! I am so glad that we waited the 20 minutes (though they est our wait time to be 60 minutes) b/c we really enjoyed ourselves. And kids eat for $1.99 on Thursdays!

ate here this past weekend while on vacation. you know a place is really good when you and your party all have that "food coma" feeling after your meal! at first, i was not expecting much from this place, but when our food came out, i was in bliss. the ribs were great; i really like how they cook their wings (our table ordered two types and both were cooked just right - still moist and not dry); the battered shrimp was good; lastly, the BACON CRUSTED PIE they had was ridiculously good!! service was excellent. the only downside is the wait time can be lengthy during peak hours. overall, great place to eat!

I had their ribs. Not a fan. They were really fatty and didn't have much meat on the bones....whatever meat there was certainly wasn't falling off. Sticky Fingers was much better than this place.

Decent food, reasonably priced. I've had better BBQ back home, but this was not bad. Best advice is to get there early. When we got there at 5:15, only 2 tables had people at them. By 6pm, the place was packed.

I loved the ribs, pulled pork, and wings. The wings are grilled not fried which is nice. I tried the chocolate BBQ and backyard BBQ sauces, both were very good. I highly recommend this restaurant for take out or dine in.

My family of four ate at One Hot Mama's for dinner during the busy 4th of July weekend. Service was incredibly slow, almost as if the kitchen couldn't keep up with the demand. Nonetheless, we were fortunate to be seated in the outside courtyard on a pleasant evening. We were entertained by a talented guitar player/singer so we enjoyed ourselves while we waited for our meals. I ordered the baby back rib & briket combo. It was good but not outstanding. The barbeque sauce had too much vinegar for my liking, but that is a matter of individual taste. The others in my party had a steak (good), chicken wings (good) and a chicken salad (looked wilted). All in all, a fun evening but not worth a lengthy wait for a table.

Great meal. Big Daddy Sandwich, with the various flavors and textures is extraordinary. Ribs and honey cornbread is splendid. Good prices for HHI.

Great tacos, especially for under 3 bucks each, awesome wings, and loved the beef brisket. My daughter had the chocolate BBQ ribs and LOVED them. Great food, great prices, and exciting atmosphere made this a new must visit every year. Paul was bartender/waiter and was awesome. Right on with his recommendations, lots of energy, friendly, helpful.

Had lunch here one afternoon after attempting to eat dinner the night before and told it would be an hour wait! Very glad we didn't wait an hour. We had the chicken pecan salad and the char grilled chicken salad. Both were okay, nothing to brag about. Again, glad we didn't wait an hour to eat dinner.

This rating is based on our first meal at One Hot Mama's. We enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich and ribs. They were outstanding! Maybe the best we had ever had! We returned for the Sunday breakfast buffet and were not impressed at all! I would not recommend the brunch buffet. But be sure to visit and order the ribs or the pulled pork. Delicious!

Love this place- cool ambiance and the best ribs, wings and chicken we have experienced on the island. The ribs are "fall off the bone tender"..mmmmm. We love them so much we each get a full rack, eat half , and take the other half home for another dinner. Delicious heated up as well! Great sides too!

Excellent food, great prices. Our large party of varied tastes ALL loved what they ordered. We have gone there a number of times and always had consistently good meals and service!

One Hot Mama should describe your attitude when leaving the place. The food is so-so. We had Nachos and Ribs. The ribs were good but certainly nothing special. The service was good but nothing exceptional. The big point is that the gratuity is 17% and added to every order. They had a special on ribs, which was great, but the gratuity was applied before the discount which amounted to a 20% tip. The service wasn't that good especially since the place was empty. Mediocre food and included gratuity adds up to I won't be back.

  • K L.

Disappointing is best we can say. The food was okay, drinks were not and the service was terrible. Waitress couldn't recommend anything from the bar, forgot to give the kitchen part of our order and our food came out at two widely spaced times. If you're looking for a fun place to eat some ribs or BBQ and relax with family or friends then you probably should go somewhere else.

  • Tom K.

The food was OK. Nothing special but not bad. Had the rib tips, not very meaty. The server was not very attentive nor customer focused. They advertise lower prices on their website than you see on their menu. When I brought that to the server's attention, she said, that's not right but didn't offer to honor their advertised pricing. That's poor customer service, maybe even false advertising or the old "bait and switch".

Went here for lunch with a group of 6 (2 kids) We waited about 30 min and then were seated comfortably. Service was great... BBQ was awesome! Love their bbq sauce! Only problem I had was that I left hungry... Lunch portion of ribs was only about 5 ribs and the sides were small. Give me more ribs on the lunch menu and I'd give this 5 stars!!

We have yet to actually eat at One Hot Mama's but we have ordered their food to go several times and are impressed each time. Their $8 lunch special is the best deal on the island (I swear!) - you get to pick one protein (out of about 8 kinds) and 3 sides (out of about 9 kinds). I usually get their rib ends with fried okra, collard greens and green bean almondine. Husband usually gets their pulled pork with double collards and okra. Today, my friend got their loaded baked potato and thoroughly enjoyed it (also got a side of collards). If you can't tell, we like the collards. I tried something different and opted for the 1/4 smoked fried chicken (with collards, okra, and green beans). I tell ya, I will be dreaming about this chicken for weeks (maybe even the whole year until we come back). You get the flavor of smoked chicken and the crunchy fried skin (which is done perfectly) - and it is *amazing*! Would recommend it in a heartbeat. The service when we pick up the food is always good and friendly. Their time estimates are always spot-on. There is always a crowd of people there in the evening - so you know it's good. Definitely go here (or grab their food to go) and be happy you did!!

Best wings I've had recently and great flavors. My wife had the fried chicken meal. Generous portions and good service. We especially enjoyed the atmosphere and beer selection. If you like BBQ make sure to try Mama's.

Like every other restaurant on Hilton Head, this place had a long wait. We waited 1.5 hours on a Sunday night. Food and service were both great. Members of our party ordered the ribs and brisket combo, ribs and pulled pork combo, smoked fried chicken, chicken nachos, and the ribeye. Our thoughts were that the ribs were outstanding. Great flavor and fall off the bone. Pulled pork and brisket were above average but still nothing special. The brisket was also dry. The ribeye was good as were the chicken nachos. The smoked fried chicken was different but delicious. Overall we thought everything was good and we would choose this place again if we needed a night off from eating seafood.

My first experience with OHM was actually at the restaurant/bar across the plaza - The Lodge. They serve OHM's food on their menu (just a few items, though). My husband and I ordered chicken wings. He got the Hot Asian wings, and I got the Parmesan Garlic wings. I'll be honest - I am eating Pescetarian these days, so I really broke the rules by going with these wings. They were huge, full of meat and the flavor was spot on. My husband said his were some of the best wings he'd ever had in his life. The hubs and I stopped in a few nights later around 9 pm after seeing a movie at the theater down the street. When we got there there were about 3 other tables finishing up their meal. They sat us in a booth directly under the speaker and began moving all of the dining tables in the middle of the room to the back. I wasn't sure if they were making room for dancing or to clean the floors. Service was friendly and attentive, but right after we ordered our drinks they turned on the dance music. It was so loud we literally couldn't hear each other talk. By that time all the other diners had left. We decided to get our food to go. I ordered the Shrimp, crab and artichoke dip with flat bread and nacho chips. My husband ordered a sampling of their $2 tacos (special for that day). He got one Hot Asian Shrimp, one pulled pork and one fried fish. Once home I was put off by the amount of oil I could see floating in my dip. After the first bite - HOLY HELL THIS WAS AMAZING - WHO CARES ABOUT A LITTLE OIL!!! The seafood flavor was so fresh and buttery, and the cheese blended perfectly to compliment the flavors. The artichoke pieces were large and tasteful. The diced mix of chives, tomatoes and whatever else on top blended perfectly to add a fresh bite to the dip. (I picked out the green pepper pieces - I don't like peppers.) The nacho chips were average and the flat bread was warm and fluffy. I wanted to eat it all, but alas I was full about half way through. My husband was equally impressed with his tacos, which he devoured them all. Definitely a must if you are in Hilton Head. We went back a few days later to get an afternoon beer when we needed a break from the sun. The bartender was super friendly and accommodating. We only stayed for one drink. If we lived in the area this would definitely become a weekly standard.

After reading reviews here, and talking with the locals, One Hot Mama's was the hands-down recommended BBQ place in Hilton Head. And it did not disappoint. While the hostess told us the wait would be nearly and hour and a half, it turned out to be only 40 minutes. And there is a real cool bar right next door with shuffleboard, billiards, life-size Jenga, and other distractions. Good beer selection too! On the menu at One Hot Mama's, there were so many delicious-sounding things to choose from, that we ended up ordering waaaaaaaaaay too much. We got wings, chocolate-covered ribs, Smoked-BBQ'd chicken, Beef Brisket, and a host of sides. Every piece of food we got earned a 5-star rating. And the service was excellent, too. We'll be back!

Sat in for lunch and had a good time! Overall the place has a good atmosphere and was pretty enjoyable for a relaxed lunch. The only thing I have to nitpick is the "famous brisket" was a little dry and just a pretty average brisket, but still pretty enjoyable.

Food was pretty good. Oddly, the water was terrible. We were thirsty since we spent the morning swimming. I couldn't drink it. Never had bad water before. Our waitress was terrible. Rarely saw her.

First time to visit OHM and will not be our last. Great selection to suit all taste. Our son ordered the grilled wings and after eating the first batch quickly ordered more! Putting on our list for places to always go to when we vacation at Hilton Head.

This place was incredible! I got the baby back ribs and fries and it was great. Good friendly service and nice atmosphere. This place gets packed so I suggest calling ahead and getting your name on the list. We had a pack of 11 when we went and they accommodated our group well. Everyone had a great meal and a great time

We ate at One Hot Mama's at an off time, around 3:00 so it wasn't too busy. We sat at the bar for their happy hour specials which included multiple appetizer portioned $5 plates and $1 off all beer which was a great deal. The mini rib plate was phenomenal and the meat fell right off the bone. I think we consumed almost a full bottle of their signature barbecue sauce, soo good.

Believe the hype! I have had bbq all over the south and this is a true treat. They are known for for their brisket, ribs, and smoked fried chicken. They did not serve them all in a combination platter, but on request allowed me to make my own combo for a slight upcharge. The brisket was tender and moist (not the best I ever had), a solid 7. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, served slightly charred with a sweet glaze (just the way I like them); deserving of a 9. What stole the show was the smoked fried chicken! How do you make fried chicken better? You smoke it for three hours, then give a light dusting of corn meal and fry it to perfection. It was amazing! Such a great combination of flavors. A perfect 10. Well done Mama, well done.

TOTAL FAIL! Restaurant is closed for renovations (?!) No message on phone line. So many restaurants to choose here in Hilton Head with great yelp reviews; picked that one for BBQ and went. Could't find it so called and got machine talking about specials, etc... Finally found it...closed!!! No way to run a business. No respect for customers.

If you haven't been here. You better get here. This place was Lip Smacking. They only take reservation for a party of 10 or more. We only had to wait 30 minutes for a table. There are plenty of bars next to the place to wait in between your table being ready. Great service, clean atmosphere, and good service.

This is your basic BBQ joint. The food is good. The service is friendly. And the price point is average. We left satisfied, but nothing remarkable or memorable. It is a good place to stop in for a quick, casual meal. We ordered the Mama's Sampler appetizer and the pulled pork entree to share. My husband really enjoyed the wings in the sampler. The chicken bites, mozzarella sticks and potato skins were not bad, but appeared to be of the frozen variety. The onion stack was good. The pulled pork was tasty and the smoky flavor was not over the top. Their sweeter BBQ sauce is really good. The cole slaw and fries were very good. We may stop in again next time to try their ribs. Particularly be brave enough to try chocolate ribs!

  • Ivy S.

Disappointed this trip. I ordered the pick 3 and chose the fried chicken since I've never had theirs and it came out raw, bleeding and flour still under the wing. The pick 3 meal is 8.99 so they gave me 10% off = .90. We also ordered wings and waitress asked if we wanted ranch or blue cheese and we said ranch and honey mustard. She did not mention it would be .50 cents more. So when I got my 33 bill, take we're proud to give me the 10% off of just the 8.99 meal and were not apologetic about charging me .50 cents for sauce and made no mention of it until I asked about it when I got the bill. Seems that they were really pushing to get every penny out of my bill.

Worth a visit, but nothing we ate makes us want to go back. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, either - except for the Triple B Chips appetizer which was excellent. Service was a little slow, but not enough to bother us. We both had brisket and it was just okay - I was looking for it to be "da bomb" and it turned to be "what's da big deal". Chocolate pecan pie was big (we shared) and tasty, but was too hot and melted the whipped cream. All in all it didn't live up to the reviews, and it's not on our list of places we have to go back to. Dinner for two with only water for drink cost us $50 plus tip.

Basically what you'd expect from an American emporium. Service was attentive and friendly. From a food perspective this is the review from 1 mom and 3 teenage boys. Rib tips appetizer was meaty and the sauce was really good. The boys had a combo of wings: bbq was not the same sauce as the ribs -too smoky. The jerk chicken wings were sticky and too spicy---they put ranch on their lips too cool the burn. Buffalo were just as expected. Ranch were the best wings ever eaten. The potato skins were good ---they would have preferred an option without the pulled pork. And the crab/artichoke flatbread was nasty --it was the dip slathered on a spongy flatbread and covered with a slick of cheese. As heard at the table, " this smells rank".

  • Abby M.

Good food. Good service. The drawback for me was the loud music which forced us to yell at each other in order to be heard. Loved the chocolate ribs which were meaty, tender & delicious. Everyone in our party of 7 liked their meal.

Absolutely the best place for ribs. I can't drive to Florida without stopping to eat here on my way. The food is awesome

    (5)
  • Shannon S.

Save your time and money on the baby back rib tips. More effort than meat. Good flavor but not a lot of substance.. The corn bread was the best part. Could it it for desert. We had the 7.99 lunch special of meat and 3 sides. Took 45 to come out. Good music in radio but really crowded dining room

    (3)
  • J W.

After reading all the hype had to try. They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait an hour. There are plenty of bars in the area so you'll be able to find a drink while you wait. The food is good. Not out of this world but good. The sauces are WEAK. The BBQ sauce is vinegar and ketchup. Over all, I wouldn't say it's a must stop but a good value. The Pulled Pork is very good!

  • Amanda D.

Eh I wasn't super impressed. What caught my eye was the rib sampler. It was $22 so a little pricey for me but we were on vacation so I splurged, the chocolate ribs really intrigued me. First of all the jalapeño cornbread was too sweet, more like cake and lacked jalapeño. There were a lot of ribs, 3 different sauces, probably a rack of ribs. The meat was really fatty and dry. I was really disappointed. The sauce flavoring was awesome though I just wished the ribs were cooked better. My husband got the pulled pork plate and loved his. So that is the main reason I still gave it 3 stars. Also we got the onion haystacks which were awesome! We probably would not go back, but also don't visit the island often.

Great food, great atmosphere! Being from out of town, I usually read reviews before selecting a place to eat. This one was chosen on a whim and boy am I glad! It has a rough, edgy theme but the staff is super friendly and laid back. I was hoping or Pepsi (but they have Coke) but my husband was happy with the Sam Adams on tap! The burgers are great! Thanks for a great lunch date!

Hubs suggested we look for bbq while we're down here so I yelped it and found One Hot Mama's. We tried on a Wednesday night around 7pm...1.5 hr wait. WOWSA. So we went elsewhere and opted to come back. Next day we call around 5---again timing dumb I know same thing 1.5 hours. We are not the waiting type so I'm beginning to think this place isn't happening. Finally, Friday of all days we walk in around 4, wouldn't ya know seated right away. The menu was pretty large and I had a hard time deciding but I eventually settled on the ribs, smoked fried chicken, and 2 sides. Hubs got the same minus chicken and had brisket. I thought the brisket was prob the least impressive thing I ate and it was still aight. The ribs? fantastic, flavorful, fall off the bone, very good. The chicken was different and awesome, never had smoked fried chicken before, but def want it again. They allow you to sub other sides for the cole slaw---I had mac and cheese and that was awesome, not like typical sides of mac and cheese you get where you can tell they just toss it together. The fries were also tasty. I don't specifically remember eating the cornbread but I was also a little lit up at that point--pretty sure They had purple haze on tap, perfect summer beer and it was awesome. Anyway my plate was clean when they took it. Our waitress was friendly and on point, kept us refilled and got us the check promptly--why do so many servers have issues with that aspect? Don't you want to turn your table? Anyway she got it...and got a good tip as well. TOTALLY WORTH IT---have breakfast and then go for a late lunch/early dinner. Seriously doubt you will be disappointed but they don't take reservations and you will have to wait if you don't time it right.

Local favorite as well as a tourist location. Wish they would bring back their hashbrown casserole. Grilled wings are great.

  • Melanie R.

The wings are the best I have ever had in life!! I had hot Asian, mustard, and buffalo. They grill the wings..then layer the sauce on. They are delicious! The ribs (reviewed) by my son were great! They have a variety of sauces..sweet, vinegar, or mustard based. This place is great for kids and adults. The drinks are cheap before 5:30. My margarita was only $4. Go early..like around 5, and there was no wait. -Oh and service was on point.

This brisket is sexier than Shakira....and this is coming from a man about to marry a Colombian! It was juicy! Tender! Little touch of melty buttery fattyness! I just couldn't believe how good it was. They have great happy hour deals, but the place does fill up pretty quick it seems. Service was excellent and the hostess friendly. I tried ribs as well, and very good, but I just wanted more BRISKET!! "Bring out the brisket!" "But the brisket is sleeping." "Then I guess you are going to have to go wake him up!" -Name that movie and you are alright in my book.

Amazing and absolutely delicious! Hubby had the smoked and deep fried chicken he said it was the like nothing he's ever had!! I had the beef brisket which was great as well. Will definetly be back the next time we are in town!!

We sty in Sea pines every year and did not realize how close it was to the main entrance. We decided to go for lunch before going to the outlet malls. The lunches were good and cost $8.99 each. I had the country fried steak with chili and the wife had pulled pork. Both of us were very satisfied to eat here for lunch but look for a little higher end and fancier for dinner.

We have a large family and we know that OHM's usually doesn't accept reservations. We call two months in advance, speak with the manager and they usually work something out for us. We always call the night before to make sure everything is good to go, and get the go ahead for the following night. We arrive (two years in a row now) to have our 'reservation' cancelled/not written down/hostess being a total bitch and not even bothering to check and see if what we are saying makes any sense to management. That being said, the ribs are delicious, but we won't be back next year.

On a Wednesday evening, we had no wait to be seated and our orders were taken quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious! (Brisket, ribs plus one, wings, "south in your mouth" salad - all wonderful!). Our only complaint was that the jalapeño cornbread was soooo tiny and the roll with the salad was stale. Definitely worth a return trip!

Visited OHM because we were in search of good local BBQ on HHI and boy did we find it! My wife had the rib and chicken dinner while I had the chicken dinner. The ribs were smoked and grilled which made them extra tender. The chicken was smoked and grilled as well. We were also quite impressed with the level of service and the meals were reasonably priced. Oh and don't forget to try the award winning key lime pie. It was so good that we came back a second day just to try it again.

Visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon during the off-season so we were seated promptly. Place reminds me of something Guy Fieri would have owned and decorated. Very helpful waiter, Jason, quickly took our drink order and offered some helpful suggestions when we had a few questions about the menu. Speaking of the menu...they had quick a few items to choose from. Appetizers to sandwiches to full dinners. We had the brisket/pulled pork combo which was excellent. The 2 others in our group indulged in the 1/2 lb burgers. They were cooked perfectly and the toppings made for a perdfect burger, especially with some of the nice beers on tap. Service was very attentive and Jason even offered up a few local dinner suggestions when asked. Prices were reasonable. All in all a very positive experience. Would definitely go back. Great place for a casual lunch or dinner out on the island.

This is the best BBQ. We ordered takeout for 14 people and every person said this was the best BBQ they'd ever had. The macaroni and cheese was incredible too. We ordered the meals for 4 off the menu and followed another reviewers advice that these would better feed 3. We ordered 5 meals and ate family style having a bit of everything. We were impressed by it all. It was good that we ordered 5 meals it was the perfect amount. We have definitely added a restaurant to our HHI must haves!

Best BBQ in town. Great fried chicken and the wings are award winning. Friendly staff. The meats are grilled and smoked to perfection. Get the Maui Wowi wings if you go. A must visit place in Hilton Head.

If you're looking for REAL BBQ, look elsewhere. Had the ribs & brisket with not a hint of smoke to be found either in a smoke ring or flavor. All was tender, but not the result of low & slow. Sides were uneventful: dirty rice? Pass. Collards? Take another pass. SP fries? Ok. I'll try anything once and am a chocolate fan, but with ribs? Sorry, doesn't work and have no clue where all the raves came from. I was really looking forward to eating here all week. I was one of a party of six and the only one satisfied was the diner who ordered a cheeseburger; which was very good. Perhaps they should focus on burgers and leave to Q to others. Prices were good, but offerings are not as advertised. On a final note; how do you mess up wings?

I research restaurants extensively before we choose where we are eating, so most that we visit are pretty good. We came here on vacation and needed a place with some variety for the 3 generations of family the first night. Everyone ordered different kinds of BBQ, Korean short rib tacos, pulled chicken nachos, and some kids meals. Everything was really good and what you'd expect from a nicer BBQ place. The pulled pork, Chicken nachos, and baby back ribs were especially good....probably 4 star. For desert we got the pecan pie (guess it's won awards on the food network) and it was amazing....I am going back just for that (5 star for sure). Also, the service was great even though it was busy. We got seated quickly, everyone was friendly, and at the later part of the meal, my 3 year old spilled his water all over his plate and himself. The mgr saw and instantly had the kitchen cook up a new set of ribs and kids pizza (as he and my daughter were sharing). After everything was cleaned up, the kids had fresh food again and that is why this place is getting 5 starts versus 4.

I can't put down in words how great this place was. I typically am not a reviewer but couldn't resist reviewing after having a meal at one not mamas. There was NO part of the experience that didn't exceed my expectations....great drinks (inexpensive), great wings as an appetizer, great food (I had a ribs/brisket/pulled pork platter), the sides were STUPID good (Mac and cheese....wow), and the key like pie so good we left with one....seriously just go here....what a great break from all the seafood restaurants....can't wait to come back (before my vacation is over I may add)....one hot mama is HOT!!!!!!

Super wings, lots of flavor and nicely char grilled. Flatbread was a mistake, stick to what you would expect them to serve well & you should do good. Also restaurant ambiance was nice & well managed. Definitely a place to return to again.

Please do not waste your time!! Rude staff & overpriced food! I hope all South Carolinians aren't like this! Not only was I practically knocked over by an employee while holding my grandson...he kept on walking without even an "excuse me"! Seated, I asked for a unsweetened Iced Tea with lemon & was told the lemon would be 75 cents extra!! Really...who does business this way, especially in a southern state?? The food was dry & tasteless, which combined with rude service didn't even earn the 1 star I gave it! Don't waste your time!

Firstly, plan ahead if you come at night. Long waits. The guitar player was excellent if you waited though. Secondly, the drafts and beer were too expensive. Limited selection. Thirdly, the smell of the place is great. Fourth, the wait for the food seems long. Fifth, the wait is worth it! Such good food! We got the Big Daddy and it was incredible. Brisket and pulled pork and other goodies on a sandwich. Beer was too expensive. Excellent place.

Fantastic place to eat on Hilton Head Island. Ribs where moist and super tender, pulled pork was amazing and flavorful, cornbread and sausage stuffing was surprisingly delicious, and the wings were a definite winner as well. An all-around great place to eat. Service was good and as one of the few places open late on HHI, you have to stop in for at least one meal here. You won't be disappointed.

This place is definitely one of the best wing places I have ever tasted. The grilled wings smell amazing and taste even better they also had the best cornbread EVER!! It was super sweet yet spicy! Our waiter was cool and down to earth definitely will return when I'm back in HH.

Recently ate lunch at Hot Mama's while on vacation. We started with the grilled wings and they were delicious. I had the combo fried smoked chicken and bbq ribs platter. The chicken was just ok. However, the bbq ribs were really really good. My husband also had the ribs but with 3 different bbq sauces. Our favorite was the "Hot Asian" award winning sauce: it was sweet with a little spice to it. Highly recommend this sauce. The chocolate bbq sauce was interesting. We could definitely taste the chocolate but it isn't something I would order again. Overall, the portions were large. The prices were very affordable. The decor was fun and there was alot of parking avaiable. The waitress was friendly and gave alot of helpful suggestions. Great bbq!

Exceptional BBQ restaurant. The BBQ itself is fantastic; put a fresh moist pretzel bun, home-made onion rings on it, and enjoy it with one of the great beers they have on tap, and that's my definition of 5 stars. The atmosphere is good/standard, though crowded (which attests to how great the place is). Not your place for a romantic date, but that's not why you go to this place - go for the great food.

Stopped here for lunch - a great spot near the Sea Pines traffic circle. Excellent American fare and as good a value price-wise as you'll find on the island. We enjoyed sitting outdoors and feasted on the "Big Daddy" pulled pork/brisket sandwich, the Triple B chips, and some BBQ wings. We also had the honey mustard fried wings - a little skimpy on the meat. Decent service, fun ambiance - imagine this place is hoppin' on summer nights.

What a great restaurant!!!! We went for happy hour (have to eat/drink at the bar). The deals were too good to pass up! 5$ apps and drinks 1/2 off. They had a great selection of yummy fruity drinks (served in mason jars) and among the best onion rings I've ever had. Our bartender James and his crew were very attentive. Portions were ample. So glad we found this place!

I don't know why you wouldn't give 5 stars! Was 7 o'clock and expected a wait! We were told 30 to 45 minutes and were seated in about 20! Megan came to our table quickly and took our drink orders and asked about appetizers! Even made a few recommendations :-) I ordered the barbecue salad and it is amazing! My husband got a combo with pork barbecue and brisket! Sooooo good! The coleslaw fantastic! We even got a pound to go and some BBQ sauce for later! Go go go! You will not be sorry!

I can't believe that I haven't left a review for this place yet. We visit at least twice every year when we visit HHI. The food is great, and we've tried almost everything on the menu from brisket to pulled pork to steak to brunch. They have great happy hour and brunch specials. I can't say enough great things about this place.

Let me start with saying that the staff here was out of this world. I will admit the wait was around 40 minutes on a Tuesday, but we were estimated 35-40 minutes. When we sat down we notified the waitress that my girl friend has a gluten allergy. She proceeded to pull out a list of gluten free sides, entrées, wing sauces, etc. When she didn't know, she went to the kitchen to ensure it was gluten free. Keep in mind she/ the kitchen ensured a gluten free meal even when the place was swamped with people. We ordered 12 grilled wings 6 siracha and 6 Maui Wowii. They were fantastic; very flavorful and meaty! We both order the best BBQ combo with the pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were falling off the bone and the pulled pork was tender and juicy! We couldn't be more happy with our experience at One Hot Mama's. I would advise anyone visiting Hilton Head looking for a seafood alternative to visit One Hot Mama's! Oh and be sure to ask for Stacy.

Went back to One Hot Mama's in 2014. Everything was great. Sat at the bar and the 2 bartenders were super attentive, super fast with drinks, and food. The beer on tap was fantastic and the food we got ( burgers and wings) was spot on. We went back twice during our vacation and will definitely visit again

The BBQ itself was great! The brisket and pork were tender and moist. The sides were average. We had sweet potato fries, baked potato, Mac & cheese, and coleslaw. The fried fish was excellent as well. Good atmosphere. It gets a little loud later on in the evening. Overall, we will return.

This BBQ joint and family-friendly sports bar just outside Sea Pines is a welcome escape from the tourist traps inside the resort, and a great change of pace from the often-mediocre seafood restaurants that dominate the area. The brisket and pulled pork plate was outstanding, and the beer selection top-notch. We'll definitely make One Hot Mama's a regular stop on our annual trip to HHI!

This was recommended by friends who had summered in the HHI area before. The BBQ wings are outstanding, the pulled pork sandwich was very good as were the ribs. Everything is very reasonably priced. We were not fans of their cole slaw, it was a little to sweet but you don't come here for that anyway. Overall we had a good meal here.

Asian hot sauce grilled wings were amazing! The ribs were a bit fatty, sides were ok and the key lime pie was decent. The highlight was definitely those wings! Along with the excellent service they were 5 star. The rest was 3-4. We would definitely return.

Fantastic all around. I had the Brisket Philly with a side of sweet potato fries, all of which was excellent. The wife had the double jack chicken sandwich with the Mac and cheese, which were also phenomenal. The grilled bbq wings may be the best I've ever had. Dessert was also great. I had the key lime pie, and she had the chocolate pecan pie. Prices are great for Hilton Head. Would definitely recommend.

Mildly above average BBQ place. Good atmosphere. Got two of the three diners' orders wrong, never a good sign. A bit overpriced for what you get I thought, but I haven't been to other BBQ places on the island. If I go back to Hilton Head, I'll try a different BBQ place.

OHM's is a part of the Serg Restaurant group. All restaurants in this group are well known on the island and each has a large following. I visited OHM's a while back and recall a pleasant experience. We arrived a bit on the late side of dinner hours. The restaurant was full when we arrived, but we we were seated in less than five minutes. Given the hour, around 9:30 or so, we shared a BBQ platter which included baby back ribs, pulled pork and a couple of sides. The plates are generous here. Light eaters can easily share. The ribs were extremely tender and had the the flavor that only comes from real smoked cooked meats. The pulled pork was also flavorful and hearty. The folks at OHM's knows BBQ. Our server was attentive and the food arrived only minutes after ordering. The 337 Cab was an upgrade and inexpensive by island standards. The misses ordered a side of the greens which had the taste and texture of home cooking. Overall, a very good dinner. About the time we finished eating, the atmosphere started to shift . Around 10:00 or so, the music was amped up considerably. Staffers started to rearrange and a different crowd started to slowly drift in. The night was just starting for some. This whole complex is unique given the atmosphere created by a courtyard shared by OHM's, The Lodge ,Hilton Head Brewing Company and Jump and Phil's. The music was pumping at full volume at each bar as we exited. For the 20 -30 crowd, this is the hour and place to make an appearance. The parking lots were packed and there was plenty of cheer. However, I was full, content and it was nearing my bedtime. And though the soul said stay, the body said go. You have to make at least one stop at OHM's on any visit to Hilton Head. Next time, I'll take an afternoon nap and hang in for a late night. Who knows, I might party til 11:00 pm.

This restaurant has the best brisket and pecan pie I have ever had. Amazing. Key lime pie is authentic and awesome as well. They have this appetizer with is a little weird, it is fresh potato chips, topped with blue cheese and brisket. It is sort of like nachos and it is also an amazing dish. I had it for dinner once. This place is always packed on weekends, so we usually go there mid week or very early on Weekends.

Finally somewhere that's casual and not expensive! I ended up finding this restaurant online, searching for something other than seafood. All their food was yummy but the barbeque was the best! I recommend coming to this restaurant when you're tired of going out somewhere fancy or of eating seafood every night!

We got take out hear for our family, so we had a little bit of everything. It took about an hour for our food to be prepared, but that was okay it was Saturday night and we were able to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks which were good and only about $7 each. Once we got home with the food, everything was there except for one side item, the fried okra, which we really wanted, but the other was so good we didn't worry about it too much. Their fried chicken is hands down one of the best I've ever tasted. What genius thought of smoking a chicken then frying it?

Had the brisket, sides were the best part of our meal. We started with the Buffalo wings (half Jack Daniels and half Ranchereno) with blue cheesse, three baby carrots (smallest I have ever seen), and some sorry soft pieces of celery. All three of us had lunch specials, that is one type of meat and choice of three sides. One of us had a signature special which is the same one entrée and one special side (soup or salad etc.). The sides we had were mashed potatoes with gravy, mac'n'cheese x3, dirty rice, brocoli, and the signature bar char salad. Brisket was fine, nothing to rave about. We slathered house BBQ sauce on the dry brisket and that made it better for us. I thought the mac'n'cheese had no flavor, but my wife says she liked it. The dirty rice was my favorite, but you can get that at Bojangles. The brocoli was cooked perfectly and I couldn't tell whether it was fresh or frozen, but it was fine so who really cares. The bar char salad looked like the best option but I didn't have any personally. We all had reasonable sized portions and our total with the two drinks was only $32, so for $10 a person we did alright. I would to again but I would order ribs and not the brisket, and try the potatoe skins instead of wings. Don't expect too much and you can enjoy a meal here if you happen to be in the neighborhod.

Big fan of the brisket and cornbread along with the collards. The fried okra is pretty good so. We eat @ OHM every time we are on HHI and it's seems consistent. Nice selection of beers, good service and reasonable prices.

We came to dinner early (GOOD IDEA), just after we were seated a long line became the norm. Food was great, service was very good, our waiter had more tables than she should have but made an effort to ensure we were taken care of. We started out with the Chocolate BBQ Baby Back Ribs, WOW, they were great, better in fact than the ribs I ordered for my meal. When I go back I plan to order them for my main meal.

How can you not want to eat at a place with the name One Hot Mama's? We went with a group for lunch, guys at one table and wives at the adjoining. This is a Q & Wing joint and that is the core competency, move from these at your own risk. First order of business was an assortment of wings. The four of us ordered three grilled varieties...Maui Wow!! 2011 Wingfest Winner Pineapple, Ginger and Soy delight (1-pepper); Siracha (2-pepper) aka Japanese ketchup with a lot of chili heat; and Ranchenero (3-pepper) Habanero infused ranch. Each were served with a few pieces of celery and your choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing. I worked my way up the spiciness scale while my buddies had different tactics. Each of these three wings was delicious. On my 1-10 scale I would place them at 2, 4 and 6, respectively. The Maui Wow contained a pleasant spicy sensation and the Ranchenero cause sweat and significant lip tingling. One of us asked for a glass of milk and then proclaimed, "let's get one more hotter." So we ordered the Holy Hulu Hulu (4-pepper). These were disappointing. They had no heat and were merely sweet grilled wings. Personally I think the kitchen made a mistake. For my main I ordered the "Combo" platter with brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese and award winning chili. Everything was very good, but nothing award winning. A couple of slices of brisket, a small heap of pork and the sides. The meats were moist, but not overly flavorful and the sides were basic. Of the group I liked the pulled pork the best. We also ordered a half slab of ribs. They definitely fell off the bone but were hard on the outside, I was very unimpressed with the ribs, but I was the minority. If I were to reorder I would opt for a pulled pork sandwich. My wife ordered the salad with shrimp. I would call this weak. Overall I liked One Hot Mama's. Would I characterize any of the dishes as award winning, must go back presentations? No, but it was a great time.

Friendly staff, good food at great prices. The fried okra is spectacular... Not that fried breaded junk you get elsewhere.... You can actually find the okra and it is fabulous. The baked beans were very tasty. Cole slaw, ok. I tried the pulled pork and it was good. Not a fan of the ribs. Cornbread.... Yummy! Even if you Go just for the sides, it's worth it!

Went here after the Hilton Head Saint Patrick's day Parade. Place was packed and we still got decent service. Food was good, wings and bbq. Lots of televisions, and sports on every channel. I wouldn't call it a must go, but if you're in Hilton Head and looking for a good local sports bar check it out.

Nice service and good food. Our group had two steaks, both cooked nicely and tender. Pulled pork meal. Shrimp tacos. All were very good. Had a 45 min wait. Should have called ahead for seating but this is summer in HHI. I will definitely return.

  • Carrie S.

Outstanding. Absolutely excellent food. The best ribs, pulled pork and brisket that we've ever had, and we have some still competition in Chicago. The ONLY negatives, I think they should add a front patio where people can wait, there wasn't enough room for waiting with kids and they need a better selection of Chardonnay, because the food is so good and wine drinkers don't want to be left out! Thank you for a wonderful meal.

    (5)
  • Jerry S.

Good pulled pork. Sauce is sweet. Great atmosphere. Daughter had Mac and cheese and said it was very cheesy. Wife said her Cobb salad was excellent. They had many gluten free options.

  • Jarvis S.

Waited for an hour to get our order messed up, over cooked ribs, and bad service. Not good for anyone looking/expecting real BBQ. Also everything is "award winning" but in reality the only award they're actually winning is fastest time out of there because the service is that bad. Good luck eating here, I will not make that mistake again.

My rating is really 3.5 but I rounded down. If you are looking for fine dining this certainly isn't the place for you. We expected a very casual dining place with decent food. Two of us ordered the fried shrimp dinner and they give you a mountain load of fried shrimp. The burger was good but overcooked. The salmon dinner was ok but the size of the salmon was on the skimpy side The kids rib meal was ok. Believe it or not the worst item we were served was the water! It tasted terrible. It's mid August and we waited 30 minutes at 6 pm. There was still a 30 minute wait at 7:30. There is no way I would have waited 90 minutes for a table like some earlier posters. They do not take reservations. Our waitress Ally was attentive and it seemed all tables were getting decent service. The prices for dinner were reasonable compared to other restaurants on the island It you are looking for some BBQ food in a very caual atmosphere this restaurant should prove to be ok.

I got the ribs with collard greens and dirty rice. It came with some really good jalapeño corn bread that was nice and moist. The ribs were excellent and my favorite side was by far the greens. I haven't had had greens this good in a really long time. Rice and gravy were also pretty good. Definately try the greens as a side.

Fantastic BBQ! Best pulled pork I've ever had. Texas brisket was good but not earth-shattering. Waited nearly 45 minutes on a Thursday night for a table of 8 that was outside. Seating outside was pretty shotty. Baked beans and Mac & cheese made tasty side items. Oh, and the grilled wings were surprisingly delicious!

This place looks like a typical Southern place with a bar, rock music, and booths. My friend and I were hungry after driving from Savannah back in May, and found OHM after settling in our hotel. We left very satisfied. Best. Ribs. Ever. My traveling buddy and I single handedly ate 50 wings and 6 racks of ribs within an hour. Make sure you order the chocolate ribs. It sounds weird, but it tastes amazing. If I ever go back to Hilton-Head Island, I'd go to the beach and this place. That's how good it was.

Sometimes I think people just like to wait on line, because there's a line. We waited two hours to have ribs at One Hot Mama's and when our circular waiting beeper went off, I couldn't have been more excited. It seemed like this was a place not to miss. Unfortunately upon leaving I felt very differently, disappointed. Several of us got a half rack of their famous ribs and I ordered the sampler. They were dry and definitely did not fall off the bone as people had raved about. There was one tasty dish that we got for an appetizer. The pulled pork caesar salad. It was creative and tasty. In conclusion I'll say this. I would not buy into the hype of a two hour wait. Maybe stop by for lunch and get the pulled pork caesar.

After reading other Yelp reviews we decided to go for dinner. We were encouraged by the heady smell of BBQ and the smoke pouring from the stack as we approached the restaurant. Had to wait about a half hour for a table, but dinner was worth the wait. The interior kind of reminded me of Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse. I was hoping it would be as good. Everything we had was good, but the main courses we had were particularly satisfying. We started with their chocolate ribs which everyone raves about and some Buffalo Wings. Both were very good though I'm not sure the chocolate ribs lived up to the hype. They were well cooked and had a nice smell of chocolate, but no one really thought the ribs were enhanced by the chocolate. The wings were good, but more or less what you would expect. For dinner, my son and I both had a rib and brisket platter. Both were very good, I liked that the rib had a crispy exterior with a nice smoke flavor. As others noted these are fall off the bone ribs but I still liked them. The brisket was smoky and tender... not dry at all. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich which was also very good. My other son had a Philly Brisket Sandwich. Kind of a cheesesteak with brisket. Many of the dishes came with fries and cole slaw which was very good. The cornbread was also excellent. We all thought this was very decent food for a decent price. I saw from some advertisement that Orchid from a past season of The Next Food Network Star is the chef there. She runs a nice place.

Monday night football - we had to go somewhere that had the game on! Typically sports bars are the last place you want to go if you have celiac. Tons of fried foods! I will say this place had several good options. I ended up with the beef brisket salad. Ahhmazing. The beef brisket was so tender and the meat was flavored nicely. No fatty pieces on the meet and the salad lettuce was fresh. They also said their wings were gluten free, which means they must cook them in a separate fryer than the regular fried foods. Highly recommended for a cheap bite to eat in Hilton Head! Aaron had tacos and really enjoyed them as well. prettylittleceliac.com

Great BBQ place. Try the chocolate ribs! They're not gross the flavors actually compliment well! Just about everyone's meal in the party I was in turned out great! I did the pulled pork samich and it was very good. Corn bread isn't corn bread. It's yellow cake. Other than that we really liked this place. Service was also very good.

Great wings! Special sauce combined for a sweet & saucy fix. Reminds of a home-town favorite "Fox Bros BBQ" in Atlanta. This place is a gem on the corner of a triangle of bars. Will certainly return*

My husband and I were vacationing in Hilton Head and had a taste for barbecue. The barbecue was, without question the best we've ever eaten. My husband had "fall off the bone" ribs. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious, and the portions were large. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere relaxed. We ended up going twice while we were in Hilton Head!

Wonderful food - especially the appetizers! Service was great as well especially given the fact that we had a party of 15 of which 7 were children under the age of 10. Pulled pork was ok although I would rate the brisket MUCH higher! Fun atmosphere also - great place to visit while on vacation in Hilton Head.

Amazing ribs, mac and cheese, bbq beans. The coleslaw was a little bland, and the cornbread was amazing but the tiny squares they give you are such a tease, we had to ask for seconds and our waitress was sweet enough to bring out another plate full. Would come back for sure.

  • Brad C.

Went there a few nights ago and had their rib sampler. 3 different types of ribs. One was chocolate favored - not my favorite but the other 2 were very good. Pulled pork platter was very good as well. Tator tot app an pretzel from the Lodge next door really good. I would definitely go back.

  • Don S.

My wife and I ate here on vacation on HHI after she had seen info on the cook on a TV cooking show. I had a combo platter with ribs and beef brisket and my wife had ribs and chicken wings. For sides I had sweet potato fries and broccoli and she had beans and fries. The ribs and wings were good, maybe really good as were the fries. Maybe I was expecting to be blown away and though it was good it wasn't the best I had ever had. the brisket was tender but slightly dry for my taste which was perhaps my least favorite thing between our two dinners. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would but I cant muster a 4 star rating. Service was good throughout the meal as well.

  • Raj S.

Best BBQ I've ever had! The pulled pork sandwich (#1 seller) is absolutely delicious. It comes with one side, which I chose the baked beans, and would highly recommend these as well. I saw a plate of ribs being served at an adjacent table, which looked amazing, so I ended up ordering a 1/3 rack of ribs (for only 6 dollars more!) and all I can say is WOW this place knows their BBQ. Oh and the chocolate pecan pie is a MUST! The whole meal was fantastic. I am definitely returning to to this place anytime I am in Hilton Head!

We visited One Hot Mama's for their chicken wings while visting HHI last week. Garlic parmesan wings had great flavor but the wings were kind of skimpy. Guess we are used to larger wings in ga. The fries and mac/cheese were good too. Best item was the Double Pork Potato Skins -- thick potato skins loaded with pulled pork, bacon & cheese. Definitely a meal in itself! Waitress was very nice and friendly. The outdoor patio was nice - neat decor inside. My only complaint is we arrived at 7:50pm, place was only hal-full and we waited about 10 minutes for someone to seat us. The hostess was busy on the phone with take-out orders but seems like someone else could have seated us. Manager walked by several times but didn't assist. We ordered and received our food quickly but I felt they were rushing us to get out of there so they could close. Don't know when they closed but we were done before 9pm.

Good food. Good prices. Discounts on Tuesday....tacos and perhaps drinks as well. The chocolate pecan pie is huge and delicious...perfect for sharing.

We went around 8 and were sat immediately. We split a platter of ribs and wings both of which were awesome.

Visited twice while on the island. With the family, had great Brisket and Pulled Pork. Kids meals are also nicely sized and pretty inexpensive. The chocolate chip pecan pie is a must! Great Sunday drink specials, so we tried the Bloody Mary's , which were very good. On another night, without the kids, we enjoyed the Wednesday all night happy hour. $4 riblets!!!! Beyond good food, the servers were very friendly and attentive on both visits. Overall, nice ambiance, great food and a friendly place with or without the kids.

We got the takeout meal. It says it feeds four - that would be a family of four that is not overly hungry. I'd say 3 people. Anyway not enough to take away a star. The food was outstanding! We had mac n cheese, dirty rice. cole slaw, ribs, brisket, corn bread and rolls. The dirty rice was something new to me (yes I'm from the north...) and it was excellent. Mac n cheese was fabulous too. Cornbread had a kick with jalepeno's in it. mmmmm.... I thought the ribs were very good, husband said "ok". They fell off the bone. I must have gotten the good "piece" of the ribs. Would have loved to eat in, but it was too much to tackle with little kids.

After scouting places in hilton head for a beer and wings, we chose one hot mama for an early Saturday night out. A 45 minute wait sent us across the courtyard to The Lodge--a bar with excellent beer selection, owned by the same folks at one hot mama...same, but limited menu as one hot mama. Since we were just looking for wings and good beer, we decided to order here. After an obnoxious encounter with a harried bartender and his apologies for his responses to our questions, we decided to stick around to try the wings. I'd love to be able to review the wings, but after 60 minutes, no wings. After sincere apologies from a manager, we decided it was time to move on down the road. Again, more apologies from the manager, but we were ready to move on. Definitely not staffed to handle a busy Saturday evening. Would have loved to try some food, but so tarnished by inadequate service.

Went on a bad night. Cold food didn't even come out at the same time tonight. Drinks never refilled. Manager on coke. At least they comped it but woof. Worst dinner I've ever had on the island.

Ate there with 7 others during our annual golf trip. Texans and Kansans alike agreed the barbecue was outstanding. Very casual place with an extensive menu and nice service--really fit the bill for us. Baby-back ribs were first class. Perfectly cooked, and the sauce was just right. I opted to try a few wings, and chose the devil sauce. Our server said the habanero-based sauce was hot, but not inedible. The wings were cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. The burn did not begin immediately, but when it did, it lasted for a solid 5 minutes! Absolutely delicious, but not for the faint of heart. Sides were tasty, and the collared greens stood out from the "standard" sides. Tip: The Lodge is directly across the way, and serves some of the same menu items.

Went for lunch, had the lunch special - brisket plus 3 sides, all for $7.50. What a deal with reasonable portion sizes. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Solid mac-n-cheese, great mashed potatoes and delish fried okra. Sauces were good, service friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Would strongly recommend for lunch!

My wife and I came to have dinner here during our honeymoon. You definitely want to come early; we went at 4:30 or so and the restaurant was full by the time we got our food. The service was good, and they have good specials. We both ordered the special of the day, which was ribs, brisket and pulled pork with two sides. The sides were phenomenal, especially the Mac and Cheese and the Greens. The meat was ok, my wife enjoyed the ribs and the brisket as did I, but the pork left a bit to be desired. All told, it's a good place that serves very decent portions. Just make sure to get there early.

The food here was great. Ate here for dinner and loved it. I asked them whether they could smoke my wings before frying/grilling, as they do their signature fried chicken. They did it, and my wings were so delicious. I ordered the grilled wings with the house BBQ sauce and the fried garlic parm wings. Went back the next day and things didn't go as smoothly. Ordered the turkey burger, which was inedible. However, I sent it back and got a few tacos. The pulled chicken and fish tacos were great! The shrimp taco was just ok. My husband had the opposite experience. He didn't like his east/west ribs at dinner, but loved his burger at lunch. The mac n cheese was fairly delicious. If you're a dessert person, try the pecan pie and banana pudding. Both are very different, but worth the calories.

Just not the place for us. We had no idea that this place was a sports bar. The atmosphere was noisy and distracting. Once seated, we hoped the food would compensate for the noisy and distracting atmosphere. We should have known by the over expansive menu that our selections would be mediocre. Our party of four first had the 20 piece chicken wing sampler. Although we had 5 wings each, it arrived with 2 carrot sticks and 4 pieces of celery. The ranch and blue cheese dip tasted like commercial bottled dressings. We had one grilled salmon and three orders of fried smoked chicken for our entrees. The salmon was average, slightly over salted and resembled the frozen fillets I buy at my local grocer. The fried chicken, although plentiful, was over battered and heavily fried. There was no sign of originality in our sides of baked beans, cole slaw and corn bread. Other than the excellent service by the waitstaff, we left feeling disappointed.

Some of the best ribs that I've ever had in my life! They were able to handle our GLUTEN FREE needs without issue or hesitation. They even have the GF symbol on their menu items. Great atmosphere. Very fun place. I highly recommend and would definitely go back!

In short: bad service, bad food, good intentions. The BBQ smoked fried chicken was really good if it weren't horribly dried out, but the fatty dark meat was still moist and melted in your mouth. The "peoples' choice" included ribs and "an order" of wings. They gave me 4 wings, no where can you "order" less than 6. They were nothing special either. The ribs were good, but some of them were inedibly dry and others were fine - on the same rack!? If you sit outside expect la cucaracha, no not a mariachi band... If you are male you have to use their 'special' urinal! Our waiter J*****, was not very apt. We ordered drinks on discount for Wed night. Menu said $2 drafts, $2.50 corona. After our first round someone asked if the corona was in fact $2.50? waiter said yes. A few minutes later I asked if mine was $2 (and slightly raised it off the table as I asked). he said yes. Apparently Coronas were $2.50 everywhere and drafts only at the bar despite me specifically asking. After all this our Waiter ran and hid in the back and had a different server tend to us. Coward!

Didn't have any food, but the atmosphere was great!! More of a scene but still quiet enough to enjoy a drink with friends without having to raise voices much.

Typical BBQ joint environment. We went on a Tuesday, so excited for the $2 taco special. Since we were there around 8, the tacos were long gone. The pulled pork sandwich was good and the cornbread and sausage stuffing was excellent. The three BBQ choices were lacking in taste and were a little on the watery side.

What a pleasant surprise! With a group of four I was able to try a good sampling of their menu on my first visit. We had the Tripe B Chips as an appetizer. They were very good and gave a sampling of the their brisket. Their ribs were fall of the bone and great if you like that style. I prefer more pull. The house bbq sauce is great. (I went back and bought two bottles to take home.) The chicken was wonderful and the pulled pork was moist with good smoke flavor. As for sides the slaw was passable, the greens were fresh, the baked bands could use some work. We carried this meal out so I can't comment on the service or ambiance. We will certainly visit this place again next time we are on HHI.

My family and I have been coming to HHI for over 15 years, and One Hot Mama's is one of our favorites on the island. The onion haystack is out of this world! One Hot Mama's is very good with food allergies, including gluten, dairy, soy, tree nuts, eggs, and nuts. There is a large variety of gluten free items on the menu to pick from (wings, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, roast chicken etc). They are very careful and vigilant when preparing meals, and our family has yet to have a problem when dining here. If you haven't tried this place yet you're missing out big time!!!

Excellent menu for kids. Best ribs I can claim to have ever had. My wife got the brisket, and that was top notch too. Excellent service (Maggie). Best place I visited while in HHI.

I've eaten here many many times but the last 3 times it has been horrible. $12.50 for a little pitcher that only holds 3 domestic beers! Fried fish was not cooked in the middle and neither was the fried okra. They brought the wrong side dishes and the poor staff seems overwhelmed. Used to love it but 3 strikes in a row and it's out. Hope they get things turned back around one day

My family and I were vacationing on Hilton Head and we had a hankering for some barbecue. While there is indeed a window in the men's bathroom, it is one way glass with a lighted sign that says applause over it. It is also quite small and is only over one urinal. I guess it comes in handy if you REALLY have to pee and don't want to miss any sports, or if you want to make sure nobody eats any of your ribs while you use the facilities. The barbecue was fantastic. Smoky and delicious. I ordered some wings with the diablo sauce that melted the soles of my shoes, hence the visit to the spy bathroom. Our server (Chris?) was super attentive and very nice. He didn't have that awkward sort of "I'm just being nice to get a big tip" nice, instead it was "I'm very nice because it's important to me that you enjoy your meal" nice. By the time we left, there were people dancing on the bar and we all had to loosen our belts. Great meal.
